The Brief History of the Dead - Kevin Brockmeier Sets up an interesting premise, but when a book is this depressing, it also has to be redemptive or instructive in some way, and this totally was not. The main character wasn't very interesting, aside from her circumstance. The author spends time on things that aren't that engaging while completely skipping the moments that would have held the deepest emotional impact. The book felt like it was an interesting project for the author, but overall it isn't one for the reader.
